My coaching style

My coaching style is about giving support and empowerment. I’m very compassionate and am a safe space for you to talk about the things you can’t say to anyone else. Or perhaps that you haven’t even figured out yet. Together we get into your learned mindset and the restrictions which are stopping you from making positive and permanent change. We figure out where you are presently at. What needs to change for you. What it is you really want, the main challenges for you and ultimately what action you can take to move the needle.  Let’s be clear it’s all about change.

I’m 110% invested in your transformation. I will give you my all to achieve that. I put my soul into helping you because that’s who I am. Whilst I have conventional coach training, I try to keep things simple and direct where possible avoiding too much jargon. I’m in the cockpit with you and helping you navigate but you are in the hot seat. My clients favour this approach as it gets results and they feel really supported. I’m not your mate but I am your confidante and I will ask you challenging questions others might not.

My coaching process

Through my unique SURGE coaching process©, you will come to understand that you have all the resources and answers you need to turn things around. SURGE© is based on a surfing analogy, and includes you learning to identify and surf the best waves, metaphorically speaking, so that you can enjoy the ride.

Why the SURGE Framework©?

My SURGE Framework© is your guide to thriving, even when the waters of life feel uncertain. Inspired by the journey of learning to surf, it equips you with the tools and mindset to:

•     Set Your Goals: Like spotting the perfect wave, you’ll learn to define clear, inspiring outcomes that align with your values.

•     Navigate Challenges: Just as surfers study the ocean, you’ll gain a deep understanding of your current situation, identifying the barriers and currents holding you back.

•     Discover Possibilities: Surfing requires creativity—finding the right wave and choosing the best path forward. You’ll reflect on your options and make empowered decisions.

•     Take Purposeful Action: Progress doesn’t happen on the shore. You’ll paddle forward with actionable steps and build momentum toward your goals.

•     Adapt and Thrive: Surfing is all about balance—adjusting your stance, celebrating your progress, and learning from each wave you ride.

Through this process, you’ll develop the skills, confidence, and clarity to face life’s waves, big or small. Whether you’re feeling stuck, stressed, or uncertain about your future, the SURGE Framework will help you find flow and live your best life.

So if you’ve never been surfing before, now’s your chance!

How does it work?

1-1 Sessions are held online either twice a month or thrice depending on your preference (see services) and normally done via Google Meet. On top of this you have direct messaging support from me when you need it the most to keep momentum when you’re struggling the most. I’m your copilot in your journey forwards.

Intermixed throughout our coaching we will use NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) based reasoning, visualisation techniques, powerful questioning and discovery tools designed to shift your perspective when required. In between sessions you might have tailored exercises to complete for yourself that help you on your journey. After each of our 1-1 sessions you will go away with a clear plan to work on. I believe you should go away from every session feeling empowered with a clear set of actions. Working on mindset and the way you talk to yourself is a big part of what we do. The way we talk to ourselves matters.

I get a huge buzz from seeing client transformations and watching clients become happy and present. I know that it is incredibly difficult to reach out and ask for support, but I am aware that it is a necessity in modern life, and self-help books will only get you so far.

My clients have found accountability makes the difference. This is why I’ve designed my coaching package to include regular contact support in-between our planned sessions to make sure I’m there for you when you need me the most. This is fairly unique in the coaching world and incredibly valuable but for me it ensures you’re full supported. It’s the gap in between that’s often missed.

Who I work with?

I work with people who are committed and open to change and to the coaching process. They simply want to feel better about themselves and their current circumstances. You will be responsible for your own self-development but I will provide accountability and ongoing reflection. My coaching is forward-thinking. If you are looking to deal with past traumas then counselling may be more appropriate.

I work with all sorts! Entrepreneurs, career professionals, lawyers, senior managers, academics, marketeers, creatives, financiers, public sector workers, counsellors, health workers to name but a few. All have one thing in common – they want to be in a better place and need some help to do so.

My clients are often professional men (but not exclusively) between 30-55 who are driven to improve themselves but despite their best efforts have lost their way a little, can’t see the wood for the trees and now dealing with the fall-out. Or they know exactly what they want but need help navigating the choppy waters. They understand they need support now and understand the value in coaching which effectively fast-tracks the turnaround.

Issues can range from relentless stress related burn-out, poor health + well-being habits, relationship breakdowns, unrewarding careers, low-confidence and self-esteem,  feeling lost and rudderless, generally unhappy in themselves and what their life is presently. I’m lucky that being neurodiverse myself I also work with clients managing ADHD which is incredibly rewarding. We are all different and this should be capitalised on.

It can be challenging as you discover your new path but the rewards are life-changing. The first steps are the hardest but little by little your small agreed actions build up to become game-changers.

I know what it feels like when you recognise you need help but you’re not sure what or from whom. I understand being hesitant to reach out. But you’ve already made that first important step which will shape your positive future. Investing in yourself is not only allowed, it is vital. It’s not a luxury to work on living your best life with a healthy mind, it is essential in my eyes.

My programs are designed to be cost-effective hence the accountability support. I want to empower you to help yourself going forwards and not to rely on me. The skills you learn in our short time together will last you a lifetime.

If you would like to know how I can help you, please phone, text or email me directly for a free discovery chat about how you can move forwards with my support.

Q & A’s

Do you only work with men?

No. My coaching process works for anyone and I do also have women clients that like my way of doing things. I specialise in men as this is an area close to my heart. I’m passionate about improving men’s lives and ultimately reducing men’s suicide rates. Also, through my own experiences I can directly relate to men’s struggles so there is a natural unity I guess.

Do you do face to face sessions?

Not as a rule. I find online suits my clients that often have busy lives and prefer the flexibility. I do consider face-face sessions held outside in nature locally to me but this is client specific and based on an hourly rate to include all travel etc.

How are you different to other coaches?

I’m not in a position to judge others but from my client feedback I can only tell you that they value my personal style and appreciate that I bring my own experience to the table which gives a sense of authenticity. I know all the coaching vocabulary, but I try to keep things simple. Being neurodivergent myself, I do see things visually at times which means I’m not averse to creating analogies that describe the situation. This can be helpful when explaining complex thought reframing or understanding emotions. I’m fully immersed in their success. Conventionally, coaches are taught not to make it too personal but I don’t wholly agree with this approach as naturally I’m invested in my clients happiness.  See some of the reviews for further insight.

 Isn’t coaching a luxury?

Often a limiting belief! Investing in yourself is not a luxury but essential to obtaining long-term happiness in a shorter space of time. If you had all the answers you wouldn’t need coaching but it’s sometimes hard to admit you need help. I should know, I resisted help in the past believing I should be able to sort myself out. I was brought up to ‘get on with it’ as ‘what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger’ right? It’s exactly the mindset that is often the root cause of the issues. For me pushing caused me serious burnout and long-term chronic illness that I’m still managing today. Working on your mind-health is critical to changing your current position. Imagine a fast-track solution to being clear on your direction, feeling purpose and fulfilled, living a contented life that you completely enjoy. What would that feel like? Coaching effectively collapses time to get you to your goals. Also, what price would you put on your long-term happiness? What is that worth to you? Aren’t you worth it? Only you can answer this but for my clients their guided transformations have been invaluable and to date no-one has regretted their investment, in fact they often return as and when they need to. Remember what you learn through our coaching is permanent and you take forward lessons learnt for life. You deserve to be happy, so prioritise you.

How long would I need?

It always depends on your personal circumstances and this is why the free initial call is so important as we can assess what it is you need. As a guide, in my experience any change or transformation is based around small consistent steps and requires commitment. The pace and length of our arrangement is down to what you need knowing that whatever you have been going through has probably been an issue for some time, so there are no quick fixes. Anyone that tells you otherwise is not being honest. My clients have found that the key element to a successful change is not only based on our one-to-one sessions but the additional support I exclusively offer through my 24/7 direct check-in service which ensures you stay on track and I’m there when you need me. This is an addition to pre-and post-session exercises where irrelevant. I would therefore advise having that free discussion as you will then have a better idea of your options. Everyone has different needs.

How does it work?

I use my own unique SURGE coaching framework. This is designed to help you find and clarify your outcomes, to understand your current situation, to explore options and establish a clear plan to achieve those goals ( See the SURGE framework section above). Before we start, you will get some pre-session exercises to help assess your values, beliefs, and current situation. After evaluating and reflection on your current status we begin to clarify what you want and what’s important to you.

From here we uncover what might be stopping you from achieving your goals and work on changing things. After each main session you will go away with some clear actions to work on (normally small achievable steps). My focus is on challenging your existing beliefs, encouraging you to think differently and ultimately empowering you to take action. I passionately believe that enhanced self-compassion and renewed thinking are a game-changer. My motto is ‘the way you talk to yourself matters’.

I will be there for you. I will be in the cockpit and holding you accountable. Sometimes you will have self-doubts, but you are not alone and you’re always learning and growing.

What is the outcome going to be?

I’m in the business of transformations. Your transformation. Quite simply making you feel more balanced, energized and in tune with yourself. Without going into all the separate issues, it’s ultimately about making you feel happy. I can absolutely guarantee that you will grow through the process and learn to see life from a very different perspective. You’ll be able to see a clear way forward with tools for life that keep you propelling forwards until you achieve the things you want to achieve. But don’t get me wrong, it still requires work.
